Dragon to Perform – Sunday finale

Dragon is back, as good as ever, fronted by the legendary kiwi singer Mark Williams.

This band rocks its way through a long list of iconic songs that are part of the national estate.

Todd started the band in 1973 and Marc Hunter joined in 1974

Dragon has had many hits over the years and have sold over 2 million albums.

Bass player, Todd Hunter reformed the band in 2007 after a much needed break and Dragon have played over 700 shows since then. The will be performing at Centenary Rocks on Sunday 23 July.

Todd and Mark are joined by Canadian guitar slinger, Bruce Reid and drum wizard Pete Drummond.

The band is known for anthems like April Sun In Cuba, Are You Old Enough, Rain, Speak No Evil, Young Years, This Time, Sunshine, Celebrate and Dreams of Ordinary Men.

The current live show evolves from an intimate beginning to a spirited, electric, uplifting finale. Mark sings each song in a way that is familiar to the audience but completely his own and strong playing and vocal harmonies have the crowd singing along as if everyone on the room is in the band.

Dragon mashes up 30 years of Australasian musical history into one contemporary sound and does justice to a great collection of timeless songs. Dragon was inducted into the Australian Hall Of Fame in 2008.

Ross Wilson to perform at Centenary Rocks

With a stellar career spanning more than 45 years and showing no signs of slowing, Mr Eagle Rock Ross Wilson is one of Australian rock music’s most enduring and lauded talents. Twice inducted in to the ARIA Hall of Fame Wilson continues to win acclaim.
From Daddy Cool to Mondo Rock, as a solo artist, or as songwriter of A-grade classics such as ‘Eagle Rock’, ‘Cool World’ and ‘A Touch of Paradise’, or producer of the legendary Skyhooks, Jo Jo Zep, The Johnny, & more recently The Screaming Jets, Ross’s involvement with success has continued unabated. He fronted ‘Daddy Cool’ & exploded out of the 70s playing rootsy 50s sounds. Then formed Mondo Rock who surfed the contemporary scene with chart topping singles & albums from the mid 70s to the late 80s. As a solo performer and major songwriter he continued to achieve success & make his mark during the 90s & beyond with his songs being recorded by artists as diverse as Jimmy Barnes, John Farnham, DEF-FX, Custard, Jennifer Rush (EU), Troy Cassar-Daley, Leslie Avril, Hey Gringo, You Am I, Uncle Bill, Keke (Spain), Renee Geyer, Christine Anu, Duane Jarvis (US), Elkie Brooks (UK), Ann Kirkpatrick & Lee Kernaghan, Sovereign, Pleasantville, Beccy Cole, Sonic Jihad, and The Wiggles!
On top of this Ross has kept a busy tour schedule of his own including national appearances on the successful ‘A Day on the Green’ series with Chris Isaak and also Crosby Stills & Nash and also the ‘5 Decades Of Cool’ concerts in Melbourne & Sydney.
He has continued to record; releasing two albums in 2010, the contemporary ‘I Come In Peace’ and a new ‘Best Of’ entitled Mr Eagle Rock.
Now with the ‘I Come In Peace’ album being his most successful solo album since “Dark Side of the Man” Wilson continues to expand his horizons globally with Joe Cocker recording ‘I Come In Peace’ on his latest global hit album.

Watch Ross and his band perform on stage on the Sunday afternoon.
